South Polls are just… easy. They do what cows are supposed to do without us hovering, worrying, or playing referee. They’re incredible mothers — attentive, calm, and heavy milkers — and their calves are born small, which means we’ve never had to pull a calf. That alone was a huge win for us.

They handle heat like absolute pros. Their slick hair and natural oil production help them stay cool and make them highly resistant to flies, even in the thick of summer. Less stress on them, less stress on us.

What really sealed the deal, though, is how efficient they are on grass. South Polls thrive on pasture alone, so we don’t have to finish them on corn. They convert grass into beautiful beef exactly the way we want. Fully grown, they stay a manageable size — usually around 900–1,100 pounds — putting their energy into meat instead of just maintaining a massive frame.

Basically, they’re low-maintenance, hard-working, and a perfect fit for the way we want to raise cattle.
